Gyeongju Pottery Festival: A Blend of Tradition and Modern Art

The area in front of the indoor gymnasium at Hwangseong Park in Gyeongsangbuk-do, Gyeongju, will buzz with activity from April 19th to 28th. The 22nd Gyeongju Pottery Festival is set to showcase a mix of traditional pottery beauty and modern reinterpretation under the theme of 'Hope.'

Highlights of the Festival

This year's highlight is the 'Blue and White Porcelain Special Exhibition,' organized to commemorate the Year of the Blue Dragon. The exhibition features blue and white porcelain, known for its exquisite craftsmanship and aesthetic appeal, sure to captivate visitors. Participating companies from the Gyeongju Potters' Association will display and sell over 1,500 pieces of pottery and 200 other crafts, each infused with stories and dedication.

Family Participation and Experience

The festival goes beyond passive appreciation by offering a range of participatory and experiential activities. Central booths will host family pottery making contests on the 21st and children’s pottery contests on the 27th, providing opportunities to unleash creativity. Additionally, experiences like clay stepping, demonstrations by famous potters, pottery-making, and tea ceremony demonstrations and tastings offer a unique dive into the art world.

Cultural Performances Enhance the Atmosphere

Weekend stages will feature performances and busking, elevating the festival's atmosphere. These cultural showcases allow visitors to enjoy not just the beauty of pottery but also a rich tapestry of cultural experiences.

The Gyeongju Pottery Festival offers a perfect opportunity to admire the intricacies and diversity of pottery and spend creative time with family. It’s an ideal event to step away from daily life and experience the beauty and spirit of art. We invite you to join us in this special event.
