World Water Day 2024: Celebrating Clean and Safe Water in South Korea

by BMPLUS 2024. 3. 21.

2023 WORLD WATER DAY

March 22 is "World Water Day," a day designated by the United Nations in December 1992 to highlight the importance of water and encourage global cooperation in solving water issues.

The theme for this year's World Water Day in South Korea is "Enjoying Clean and Safe Water Together," reflecting a commitment to sustainable water management and the use of water for peace as outlined by the UN. South Korea has been holding government-level commemorative ceremonies since 1995, and the Ministry of Environment plans to host this year's event in Daejeon. The ceremony will honor individuals for their contributions to water management.

Additionally, academic seminars and the largest water industry expo in South Korea, "WATER KOREA," will coincide with the event to discuss water management strategies and promote the value of water. The Ministry of Environment is also raising awareness through various promotional activities, including a pre-event video message and social media quizzes.
