The South Korean Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism (MCST) is championing a new tourism initiative by linking cruise travel with "Global Festivals" to boost international tourist interest and invigorate local tourism. Launched at the Incheon Cruise Terminal, the campaign commenced with a robust promotion of the "Pentaport Music Festival."
By collaborating with the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, the MCST plans to draw tourists to lesser-known local attractions and festivals, thus extending their stay. Events like the Pentaport Music Festival not only showcase Korea’s vibrant music scene but also encourage tourists to revisit.
The strategy targets major Korean port cities such as Busan, Incheon, Jeju, Yeosu, and Sokcho, positioning them as gateways to unique cultural experiences like temple stays and traditional markets. This initiative aims to establish Korea as a top cruise destination in Asia, promising a substantial rise in international tourism.
