National Youth Expo and Youth Month Ceremony to Begin on May 23

 

May marks the 36th annual Youth Month, with a series of activities planned for young people throughout South Korea. Key highlights include the Youth Month Ceremony, the 20th National Youth Expo, and a special youth forum, along with more than 1,000 cultural, artistic, and scientific events.

 

Youth Month Ceremony:

The Expo opens with the Youth Month Ceremony on May 23 at the National Youth Center of Korea in Cheonan. It includes a parade, performances, and a commendation ceremony recognizing contributions to youth development.

 

National Youth Expo:

Running from May 23 to 25, the Expo's theme, "A World Made by Youth, A Greater Korea," showcases activities from rock climbing and archery to scuba diving, utilizing the Center's facilities. Additionally, 300+ booths offer experiential opportunities, covering career development, creative arts, mental health, and digital skills.

 

Youth Forum:

The Special Youth Forum on May 25 brings together youth representatives from across the country to discuss skills for the future, with outcomes guiding policy proposals to the government in September.

 

Other Activities:

Events from various governmental departments and local governments include science lectures, cultural expos, and safety festivals, along with other activities held at the National Youth Center, including the “Future School Project” at the Space Center and “Tailored Education Expo” in Pyeongchang.

 

Closing Remarks:

Shin Young-sook, Vice Minister of Gender Equality and Family, emphasizes the role these activities play in helping youth pursue their dreams, reaffirming the ministry's support for healthy youth development.
