The 2024 Lakesarang Walkathon, which kicks off in April in Chungcheongbuk-do, is more than just a walking event, but also a health and healing opportunity with various events linked to local festivals. This is a great opportunity to explore the beautiful lake paths and tourist attractions of Chungcheongbuk-do, and it's even more meaningful because it's open to the entire country.
Schedule and course
The walk, which is being held for the first time this year, consists of events in both the spring and fall seasons, covering 11 counties in Chungcheongbuk-do. The spring season starts in Chungju, followed by Jincheon, Yeongdong, Okcheon, and Boyeon, and the fall season includes Jecheon, Goesan, Eumseong, Jeungpyeong, Danyang, and Cheongju. Each event is a friendly course that takes about two hours, making it easy for people of all ages to participate.
Chungju: The first wave
Kicking off on April 13, the Chungju event is an 8-kilometer course that starts at Tangeum Park, runs along the Chungju Lake National Cycle Route, passes by the Mokhaeung Bridge, and returns to Tangeum Park. Participants can enjoy the natural scenery of Chungju and take a healthy step forward.
Jincheon Competition with Nongdari Festival
On April 20, the race in Jincheon will overlap with the Nongdari Festival for a more enriching experience. The course from the deck path along Chopyeong Lake, through Mir 309, the second sky bridge, and back to Nongdari will be accompanied by the festivities of the festival.
Finish at Soklisan Sculpture Park: Boeun Competition
The final race of the spring season takes place in Boeun. The course starts at Soklisan Sculpture Park, passes through Beopjusa Temple, Sejogil, and back to the sculpture park, where runners will be treated to a variety of programs in conjunction with the Soklisan Festival, including a concert in the Sejogil Forest, food trucks, and a life-size photo event.
Special benefits for participants
In addition to participating in the walk, participants will be able to enjoy a variety of events that will make the walk even more memorable. The first 100 participants who participate in four or more walks will receive Chungcheongbuk-do Nannan-i kimchi, and the first 10 participants who participate in five or more walks will receive a hotel stay in Seoul and a one-night stay at Cheongnam University.
